Get Started
1. Review "Program Listings" | Click on the name of the program to go to the program information page. Students are also encouraged to review the Study Away Handbook |
2. Apply to a Program | If the program is currently accepting applications, you will see a button labeled ‘Apply Now’ on the left-hand side. You may apply up to 3 programs for MayX and 2 programs for the semester per term. Y Under the Dates/Deadlines, you will find the terms in which this program is available, the application deadline, the decision date (the date when the faculty will begin notifying students of their decisions), and the start and end dates for travel. If this is your first time applying for study away, you will be asked if you are a Furman user: answer ‘Yes’. Then you will be prompted to login with your Furman network name and password. Next, you will be asked if you want to create a profile using your Furman information: answer ‘Yes’. This will create your account. You are responsible for completing all requirements before the program's application deadline. |
3. Selection Process | After the program application deadline has passed, program directors and Study Away office staff review applications, occasionally conduct in-person interviews, and determine the number of students to be accepted. Due to high demand, there are typically more applicants than available spots. Students who are not initially accepted will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified if a spot becomes available. |
4. Decisions & Next Steps | Students will receive a decision regarding their applications in accordance to the program's deadlines. Students must complete the post-acceptance requirements within 2 weeks of acceptance to maintain program acceptance. Please review Before You Go or contact Study Away for additional questions. |
