Nancy Georgiev joined Furman University in August 2012 and is currently serving as the Director for Study Away and International Education. Nancy found a natural pathway to a career in international education through her love of learning foreign languages and exploring cultures (German, Bulgarian and Russian). She says her passion is promoting “greater intercultural understanding, community collaboration, and positive relationships between students and the rest of the world.”

Prior to joining Furman, Nancy lived abroad for 4 years in Bulgaria where she started out as a Peace Corps volunteer before taking a full-time job in education administration in Bulgaria's capital city.  She studied German in college, studied away in Germany as a junior, and spent a winter term interning in Vienna, Austria which turned into her first international job at a study abroad organization.
